Man injured after North West hatchet attack

A man has received face and arm injuries after being attacked with a hatchet in Derry/Londonderry. 

Police were called ot the Chapel Road area of the city at around 4am this morning. 

A 31 year old has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent, possession of an offensive weapon, aggravated burglary and assault.

Detective Sergeant Brian Reid, of Reactive and Organised Crime, said: “I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and who may have witnessed this incident, or who may have any information that could assist in our investigation, to contact detectives at Strand Road quoting reference 121 of 15th September. 


“Alternatively, information can be given anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
