A man has been arrested over an attack in Ballycastle early this morning.
A 28-year-old man was assaulted on Castle Street and taken to hospital with a serious head injury.
The 32-year-old suspect is being held on suspicion of GBH.
Detective Inspector Michael Winters said: "At approximately 2:30am, a 28 year old man was assaulted on Castle Street. He sustained a serious head injury and was subsequently taken to hospital, where he remains.
"A 32 year old was subsequently arrested, and he remains in custody assisting police with their enquiries.
"We know there was a large number of people in the Castle Street area of Ballycastle last night, at around the same time as the incident occurred, and we are keen to speak with anyone who witnessed the assault or anyone who has information they believe could assist with the police investigation to call the non -emergency number, 101, quoting reference 268 29/10/17, or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
