A man has sustained minor head wounds after a gunshot was fired through the window of a house in Banbridge.
It happened in the Railway Road area at around 8.15pm last night.
The man in his 20s who was injured was inside the property at the time, alongside another man and a woman.
Police say a man with a balaclava, wearing dark clothing and armed with what appeared to be a shotgun, was spotted in the area at the time.
It's believed he made off in the direction of the junction at Reilly Street and Huntley Road.
Detective Sergeant Stewart said, "This was a contemptible and calculated attack, with the most serious potential consequences.
"Worryingly, anyone from the residents to potential passers-by, could have been killed.
