McGuigan accuses Unionist protest group of pushing an agenda

The 'Protestants Against Injustice Committee' is to hold a parade in protest against the Parades Commission on Saturday.

The Protestants Against Injustice Committee (PAIC) was formed in reaction to perceived injustices meted out by the Parades Commission. The group's first main action will be a protest march held in Ballymoney on Saturday evening.  The march is set to involve over 40 bands and attract around 5000 people.

PAIC say that they wish to 'unite Unionism' to bring about the end of the Parade's Commission.  However Sinn Fein MLA Phillip McGuigan believes that the group is pushing an agenda.  "The Protestant, loyalist community, nor a single band, nor a single order has suffered at the hands of the parades commision" said McGuigan "I find it bizarre when after a relatively peaceful summer this group is intent on heightening tensions."

Mr McGuigan also called on the PAIC, along with other groups to engage with the local community to resolve  "the very small number of issues that still remain around parades in North Antrim".
