The woman was found in a flat in the Larkspur Rise area in the west of the city.
A 23-year-old man has been arrested.
The body was discovered last Friday but detectives only confirmed on Wednesday that they were treating her death as murder.
The man was detained earlier on Wednesday, the PSNI said.
Officers have not given any further details about the fatal incident.
