Murlough in Dundrum is Northern Ireland's first national nature reserve.

By Iveren McCallion

Ireland's first ever nature reserve has hit half a century!

Murlough in Dundrum is often described as one of Ireland's best-loved secrets and to mark its 50th year, the National Trust is running a series of events.

Celebrations will be officially kick-started on Sunday with a tour of the nature reserve, given by the original warden, Jo Whatmough.

Other calendar highlights will include Rubbish Art in July, a unique project to create art from rubbish found on the beach; Big Beach Art in August and a birthday party in September.
