Police are warning about unexpected phone callers, after reported frauds in the Antrim and Newtownabbey areas.

Someone with a foreign accent has contacted members of the public claiming to be from their bank.

They're then advising that the customer is eligible for a refund due to a banking fault.

The intended victim is then asked to purchase vouchers from shops - such as iTunes or Amazon vouchers -

to process the repayment over the phone.

It's not clear if anyone has responded, but police say it's highly unusual for any legitimate company to demand money this way.
