"Powersharing deal can still be done", says Sinn Fein

Sinn Fein's Michelle O'Neill still thinks a power-sharing deal can still be reached with the DUP.

That's despite comments by the Secretary of State who says an imminent agreement is unlikely.

However, the Stormont Sinn Fein leader has hit out at James Brokenshire's address to the Northern Ireland Affairs Committee this morning.

He said the talks have broken down over issues of language and culture and set a new deadline for a resolution.

This means the latest date for an executive to be formed to pass a budget is the week beginning November the 6th.

Mr. Brokenshire said that would mean legislation would have to pass through Westminster by the end of this month.

Furthermore this means the parties will have to agree a deal by 30 October if the latest target is to be met.
