PSNI secure £1.2m drug bust in series of raids

Over £1.2 million worth of drugs have been taken off the streets in separate policing operations.

A 45-year-old man was arrested after £600,000 worth of cannabis was found in Belfast. 

It was discovered when officers searched a vehicle in the Dargan Road area yesterday morning.

The suspect has since been charged and is due before Belfast magistrates court on Friday morning.

Meanwhile, £600,000 worth of cannabis plants were discovered in a rented property in the Boucher Road.

The 150 plants were found by officers in a separate raid on Wednesday. 

In a third operation announced by the PSNI, four men, aged between 19 and 29, were arrested on suspicion of drug related offences in Mid Ulster. 

£25,000 worth of drugs, cash, a vehicle and a stun gun device were recovered in Cookstown yesterday. 

Those suspects have also been charged and are due before a court in Dungannon.

The men are being held on suspicion of a number of offences, including possession of a class A controlled drug, supplying a class A controlled drug, possession and supply of a class B controlled drug, and possessing criminal property.

A police spokesperson said "“Information from the public is also key to our success against those who profit from the trade in illegal drugs. I would ask anyone with any information which can assist us to target these individuals to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
