A man in his thirties who was killed in a road collision in Coleraine was local man, Johnny Scott.
The father of two was walking along the Quilly Road - when the collision happened before 7 last night.
The road was closed for a time but has since reopened.
Local MLA Maurice Bradley says local people are stunned:
Mr Bradley continued saying, 'Sad news that another life has been lost on the roads in the Coleraine area. It is another sad house and family which have lost a loved one.
There are no words of comfort adequate at this sad time but I would extend my sincere sympathy to the victim’s immediate and extended family circle.'
Further commenting on the tragedy SDLP Councillor Stephanie Quigley said 'This is just devastating news that in this area within a week a second young father has lost his life as a result of a road traffic accident.
We extend our deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathy to the entire family circle, they are very much in our prayers now and will be in the weeks to come.'
The Quilly Road, Coleraine is now open following a serious road traffic collision.
