Two days of public consultation on the Southern Relief Road in Newry get started today.
The Department for Infrastructure confirmed that £1.2 million of EU cash has been made available to complete the road's design stages.
Feedback will welcomed on two possible routes.
It is hoped the bypass will alleviate traffic in the city centre, connecting Warrenpoint Port with the main Belfast to Dublin route.
The public forum will be held today and tomorrow at the Sean Hollywood Arts Centre, from 10am until 9pm tonight.
