Volunteers will be out on the streets across Belfast this Summer to help passengers using the new Glider transport system.

It's a new mode of travel set to enhance the image of the city and encourage more people to use public transport.

They'll officially hit the roads in September this year.

Volunteers will be involved in providing support to the public with halts within Belfast for the introduction of the service.

It'll provide direct cross city services between the east and the west of the city and linking into Titanic Quarter.

Tasks will include:

  • Assisting passengers to use the new ticketing machines at the halts

  • Act as a first point of contact for the general public looking to use the new travel system - this may include international and domestic visitors looking to explore the city

  • Event specific training will be provided by Translink during the month of August. Volunteer Ambassadors are encouraged to attend one of the sessions to help prepare for the role

Below is the event details of the Glider launch:

2 x Shadow Running Weeks - 21-24 August and 28-32 August 2018

Launch Week - 3-9 September 2018 (Various halts across the City of Belfast with two Volunteers shifts each day from 7am-11am and 2pm-6pm).
