NI politicians have been given a deadline by which they must sign-off on funding to save the bid to host the 2021 Commonwealth Youth Games in Belfast.

Due to the breakdown in the Assembly, there has been no such undertaking, and the hopes have been in jeopardy.

A number of sporting stars, including Carl Frampton and Jessica Ennis, have made their mark on the competition in years gone by.

Unless the funding is approved, then Belfast will not be given the games at the closing ceremony of this year's instalment in the Bahamas.
