A 42 year old man has been charged with a number of offences including two counts of attempted murder and possession of a Class A controlled drug with intent to supply.
The suspect is due to appear at Newry Magistrates Court later this morning.
The police charge is in relation to an incident in the First Avenue area of Newry on Saturday.
A police spokesperson said, "As is normal procedure all charges will be reviewed by the PPS."
