The Roman Catholic Church has confirmed Cardinal Keith O'Brien has died at the age of 80.
O'Brien - who was born in Ballycastle - became the first cardinal to ever recuse himself from a papal election over a scandal.
He resigned as archbishop in 2013 after allegations of sexual conduct linked to relationships in the 1980s.
