It marks the beginning of the city's festive season

Belfast will herald the launch of the festive season with the annual Christmas light switch-on.

Hundreds of people are expected to pack the grounds of City Hall for tonight's event.

It coincides with the launch of this year's Christmas Market.

Lord Mayor Alderman Brian Kingston says it'll be a packed event.
