Q Radio has learned of an emergency community meeting called by Darkley Rural Community group after revelations that its community hall is be sold off.
Administrators have been called in to strip the property of assets to settle huge debts.
The council is to meet later to determine the reasons for the shock news.
Councillors hope to determine how much is owed and to speak to receivers.
It's understood the sale was allegedly initiated to pay for debts incurred by a previous group or groups.
The community meeting is to be held tonight at 8pm at Darkley Primary School.
