Stormont's Economy committee was given the news this morning by specialists at Ulster University's economic policy centre.
It believed as many as a quarter of the 220 thousand people thought to have placed on the government's Job Retention Scheme could end up being made redundant.
The experts believe a good senario for the Northern Ireland economy to recover would be would be three years - a middle of the road scenario would be about four years while a bad scenario would stretch to around five years.
