Three people have been killed in a road crash just across the border.
Two vehicles collided in Carrickcarnan in County Louth at around 2.15am this morning.
A man in his early 20s was seriously injured and taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.
It comes after two people lost their lives in a separate crash last night, Friday February, 28.
A man and a woman in their 60s died following a two-vehicle collision on the N55 at Ballinagh in County Cavan.
Gardaí said it was believed their car collided with a jeep at about 7pm.
