Two men armed with knives have broken into a house in the Hopefield Avenue area of Belfast just after 1:30 this morning.
A man in his 30s was assaulted by the pair and taken to hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
A woman was also threatened, with the attackers making off with a mobile phone and a bank card.
Speaking about the incident, a police spokesperson said, "One of the attackers is described as being in his 20s wearing a black top and bottoms. The other is described as being in his 30s wearing a dark top and jeans and with a tattoo on the left side of his neck.”
“Enquiries are continuing and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area to contact Detectives on 101, quoting reference number 88 22/09/20.”
“Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
