Detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Major Investigation Team investigating the murder of Amy Doherty on Saturday, 21st March in Derry/Londonderry have charged a man to court.
The 30-year-old has been charged with murder, possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence, and possession of a Class A controlled drug.
He is due to appear before Londonderry Magistrates’ Court via video link this afternoon, Friday 27th March.
As is usual procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
A vigil is to take place in memory of Amy this evening at the Guidhall this evening, others will also take place in Donegal and Armagh
