A man has been left with scrapes and bruises after a paramilitary style assault in Belfast.
Police say he was attacked by two men in his home on Willowfield Street around 6.30am yesterday morning.
They were wearing balaclavas and forced their way inside.
A spokesperson for the PSNI said: "At approximately 5.30am when the male occupier of the house was in his back yard he heard a banging noise on a window at the front of the property. He observed a man who he believed was trying to 'entice' him outside. When he opened his front door this man made off.
"Approximately an hour later there was a knock at his front door. When the occupier unlocked it, two men, wearing balaclavas, forced their way in and assaulted him.
"He sustained scrapes and bruises.
"Police would appeal to anyone who noticed any suspicious activity or vehicles in the area between 5.30am and 6.30am yesterday morning, to contact Police at Musgrave on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 1110 01/07/18.
"Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime."
