A new 3G pitch at Brackaville Gaelic Football Club will provide a health, wellbeing and community venue for the people of Coalisland.
It’s just been officially opened.
Brackaville received over £477,000 of Neighbourhood Renewal Funding from the Department for Communities.
It’s hoped this will provide a safe place for young people to socialise.
Brackaville facilities were previously inadequate,e given the huge number of sporting teams the club caters for, from age 8 years plus.
The existing grass pitch was at full capacity which left no room for the development of alternative activities and was unable to cope with periods of bad weather, leaving the pitch unusable.
Chair of the Council’s Policy and Resources Committee, Councillor Dominic Molloy says the new facility will be a very welcome addition to the whole area.
“The new 3G pitch is open to all members of the community and fundamentally provides a safe, accessible area for both young and not so young to use and enjoy,” he adds.
Francie Molloy, MP, Chair of Coalisland and Dungannon Neighbourhood Renewal Partnership says the project had been in the pipeline for a number of years.
