The PSNI is working with An Garda Síochána to investigate an attempted ATM theft in Co.Louth.
Thieves used a digger to get to a machine on Main Street in Dunleer at around 4.30 this morning.
It was initially reported the machine had been taken from the scene.
However, Gardai say they intercepted in the incident and the gang made off towards the border with Northern Ireland.
Thieves failed in attempts to steal the same machine last year.
