A woman has been left cut and bruised after her car was hijacked near Belfast city centre.
The victim was thrown to the ground as she got out of her car outside a fast-food takeaway on the Ormeau Road just before midnight yesterday.
The man then sped off in the Fiat 500 which was later found parked on Fairhill Park in the north of the city.
Detective Sergeant Rachel Miskelly said: “Shortly before midnight on Thursday 9th July, a woman parked her car, a white Fiat 500, outside a fast food takeaway establishment near the junction with Fitzroy Avenue.
"As she was exiting the vehicle a man approached and threw her to the ground before getting into the car and driving off city-wards at speed.
"Following a number of enquiries the car was recovered shortly before 3am parked in the street at Fairhill Park in north Belfast and has been taken for examination.
"The woman sustained cuts and bruising as a result of the incident.
“Anyone with any information about this incident or who may be able to help with our investigation, is asked to call detectives at Musgrave on the non-emergency number 101 quoting reference number 6 10/07/20."
