Police attended the scene of a stabbing incident at a house in Liska Manor, Newry.
Officers received a report at around 5.30pm on Saturday evening that a woman had been stabbed a number of times at a house in the area.
Police and paramedics attended the scene and the woman was removed to hospital for treatment to her injuries which have been described as serious.
A search was conducted in the area of Liska Manor and a male suspect aged 38, was arrested a short time later on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent. He is currently in custody assisting officers with their enquiries.
