International Women’s Day is being recognised across Northern Ireland.
Worldwide events are taking place to celebrate women’s achievements, from the world of politics, business and community sectors while calling for gender equality.
This year’s theme is Press for Progress, a strong call to motivate and unite people to think, act and be gender inclusive.
In Derry-Londonderry, Claire McGee from InnovateNI has organised a massive ‘Derry Girls’ themed event celebrating women from the city:
Jan Melia, CEO of Women's Aid Federation NI will host ˜I Am Woman, Hear Me Roar at Stormont this morning to give a voice to those who have suffered domestic violence...
Helen Crickard, from female equality activists Reclaim The Agenda, says Belfast will be alive today with celebrations of womenâs strength:
It's International @womensday and today we'll be celebrating all the girls and women across the globe involved in the great game of rugby! #IWD2018 #PressForProgress pic.twitter.com/ZEyxRDo7Pi
