A 'pioneering' mental health initiative for young people is being launched today in Carrickfergus.

It'll give children and young adults will be able to access free mental health awareness information.

Financed with Social Investment Fund cash, the initiative will cater for eight to 25 year-olds.

Almost 6,000 young people will also be given free resilience training, and education on internet safety, exploitation and sexual abuse.

It is being launched this afternoon at Carrickfergus Model Primary School.

The Northern Area Mental Health Initiative is led by Cookstown and Western Shores Area Network (CWSAN), in partnership with Action Mental Health and Nexus NI.
