It's the dawn of a new era for Glentoran this evening in the opening match of the Danske Bank Premiership.

The game at Glenavon is the first competitive fixture since the takeover of the east Belfast club was completed.

Manager Mick McDermott has spent the summer strengthening his squad, with a number of new recruits from across Europe.

The Lurgan Blues lost to the Glens in the play-offs last season.

Midfielder Robbie Norton is ruled out through injury tonight, but he says his teammates are up for the battle...

There are five more fixtures tomorrow.

Tributes will be paid at the matches to Irish League legend, former Cliftonville player and manager Tommy Breslin who died suddenly this week.

In transfer news, striker Jamie McGonigle has left Coleraine and joined Crusaders.
