Rory McIlroy endured a horror start to the defence of his Players Championship title as he slumped to an opening round 79 in Florida.

He finished day one seven over par, 14 shots behind leader Sergio Garcia.

The Holywood man was tied for 139th place in a field of 153.

Graeme McDowell was one over, tied for 60th.

Former Dungannon Swifts manager Darren Murphy has joined the backroom team at Crusaders.

It marks his return to the Irish Premiership after stepping down as first team coach at Linfield last October.

The Crues are in action on Friday night - in a second against third clash with Coleraine at the Showgrounds.

It kicks off the weekend action and there are five more fixtures on Saturday:
