Ballymena United have replaced Linfield at the top of the Danske Bank Premiership after a 2-1 victory away to 10-man Newry City on Friday night.

Adam Lecky and Andy McGrory scored to make it 2-0 for the Sky Blues at half-time.

Newry keeper Andy Coleman was sent off with an hour played for a clash with a Ballymena player but the home side pulled one back through Dale Montgomery.

Newry also had a goal disallowed.

Gutted for the players this evening who put in a massive shift and deserved more from the game. Few dubious decisions to say the least but we will take the positives out of it and move onto Friday night’s game #NCAFC 🔵⚪️

Linfield now trail Ballymena by two points but can regain top spot by beating Cliftonville at Windsor Park in one of five fixtures on Saturday afternoon.

Meanwhile, Glentoran go to Dungannon Swifts, Glenavon entertain basement team Ards, Crusaders welcome Institute and Coleraine face Warrenpoint Town at the Q Radio Arena.

They all start at 3pm.
