A 22-year-old man has been charged with murder after a "much-loved" son was hit by a car in Accrington.

Matthew Weller, 44, died in hospital after he was struck by a VW Passat on Wednesday night, Lancashire Constabulary said.

The car, which did not stop at the scene, was later found abandoned and taken away to be examined.
