Fermanagh and Omagh District Council has organised two Inclusive ‘Come and Try’ bushcraft and survival skills sessions as part of an initiative to encourage more people with disabilities to go outdoors.
Two sessions will be available:
- Saturday 10 February 2018 at Gortin Glens Forest Park
- Sunday, 11 February 2018 at Castle Archdale Forest Park
Both of the FREE sessions commence at 1pm and finish at 4pm.
The programme is designed for young people with disabilities aged 8-14 and will be delivered by fully qualified instructors.
Among the skills being demonstrated are safe fire building, foraging and woodland crafts.
Speaking about the upcoming events, the Chairman of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Stephen McCann said,
“I welcome these taster initiatives aimed at encouraging young people to embrace the great outdoors while at the same time learning some new survival skills and bushcraft.”
Places on the bushcraft and survival skills sessions are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. All participants must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or carer for the duration of each session.
