Discussions have been ongoing for St. Brigid's primary school in Augher.
The rural school should be having their 50th anniversary this year, however it doesn't seem like the school will make it that far.
The institution is under threat of closure due to low numbers for enrolment, followed by the funding and financial worries that go in hand.
There are another two primary schools within the same parish so an amalgamation was suggested, however the Catholic Council for Maintained Schools rejected the idea as it could not be delivered in good enough time to deal with St. Brigid's issues.
No decision is absolute at the moment but it's not looking likely for the Augher primary school.
