A new domestic abuse offence comes into force today in Northern Ireland.
It will cover behaviour that is controlling, coercive or that amounts to psychological, emotional or financial abuse of another person.
Offences will no longer be limited to physical abuse, with the legislation criminalising a pattern of non-physical abusive behaviour.
