On Wednesday night (22nd February), police uncovered a vehicle near Castledawson laundering illegal fuel, resulting in its seizure and an arrest.
Speaking after the incident yesterday (Thursday 23rd February), a spokesperson for the PSNI in Magherafelt said:
"Last night officers from c section stopped this van which was acting suspiciously on the Hillhead Road, just outside Castledawson.
"When officers opened the back door this is what they discovered, an estimated 3000 litres of laundered illegal fuel.
"Further investigation revealed a number of road traffic offences with the driver being subsequently arrested.
"Working with our partners in HMRC police seized the vehicle and a joint investigation is now underway with further examination and tests being carried out."
