The family and friends of fallen Derry City Captain Ryan McBride will tonight gather for a Mass to mark the first anniversary of his passing.
Ryan, 26 died suddenly in his Brandywell home this day last year, plunging his loved ones, team mates and fans into grief.
Hundreds had walked behind his coffin, draped in his number 5 shirt, wearing candy stripes colours.
The Ryan McBride Foundation, to help young footballers achieve their dreams was set up in the weeks following his passing.
Derry City FC returned to Ryan’s beloved Brandywell last week, scoring five goals in each game, beating both Limerick and Bray Wanderers.
Ryan’s anniversary mass takes place tonight at Long Tower Chapel at 7.30pm.
