Linfield have announced the signing of 26-year-old forward Daniel Kearns on a two-year deal.

The west Belfast man moves to Windsor Park after spells in the League of Ireland with Sligo and Limerick.

He had previously been at Dundalk and Glenavon after returning home from playing in England with clubs including West Ham and Peterborough United.

Kearns has represented Northern Ireland and the Republic at youth international levels.

He's set to make his debut against former team Glenavon at Mourneview Park on the opening day of the Danske Bank Premiership, August 4th.

Blues boss David Healy has spoken with linfieldfc.com

“I’m delighted to be able to advise our supporters that Daniel Kearns has signed a two-year contract with the club and he’s come through his medical, so it’s just the international clearance formalities that have to be completed, to conclude the deal.

"Daniel has good pedigree and he’s an experienced forward player, having played for a number of full-time clubs.

"We are well aware of his ability and he will give us really good options up front, so I’m really excited about getting started to work with him.

"He’s bright and clever and we want to get him scoring goals to get us challenging again.

"He’s really looking forward to getting started with us and he really impressed us at training on Thursday and while playing as a trialist in Saturday’s game at Dundela.

"I know our supporters will welcome the news of this quality signing."

The new recruit has told the Blues website -

“I’m delighted to have got the signing and the medical completed and I’m really looking forward to a good pre-season with the lads and then kicking on.

"It’s a good move for me to come home to Belfast and I’m really looking forward to working with David Healy who was a top striker in his day.

"My aim is to enjoy my football and I want to score goals, win football matches and win trophies and I believe I can do that here.

"Windsor Park is a great venue with great facilities and I can’t wait to get on the pitch. I remember the Setanta Cup game for Dundalk when I scored a hat-trick here and I want to get out there and score more goals on that pitch.

"Joel Cooper and I could be set for first team debuts away to our former club Glenavon. It promises to be a great game and a great start to the season, so we are all really looking forward to being involved in what’s sure to be a great occasion with a big crowd."
