An angler has been rescued after they were swept into the water in South Down.
It's understood to have happened off Ardglass early this morning.
The coastguard and the crew of a local vessel have been praised for their bravery and quick reactions.
South Down MLA, Colin McGrath said: "Being a coastal constituency, the perils of the coastline are well known. We have some of the most dramatic and beautiful places on the island of Ireland but there are dangers too.
"This morning an angler was swept into the sea at Ardglass. Fortunately through the concerted work and effort of the coastguard and locals this angler was saved.
"This afternoon we could have been relaying a sadder, more tragic news story.
"I want to thank the local vessel that participated in the recuse and to the coastguard for their unending support to our coastal community in South Down."
