Staff operating a bus lane camera have been involved in an altercation in West Belfast, after a vehicle was attacked.
A man was pictured on top of a car on the Falls Road on Tuesday and appeared to be trying to remove the camera from it's fixed point.
He was also filmed by passers by stamping on a smashed windscreen, which has been widely shared on social media.
Footage of a fight later emerged which appeared to show the same man involved in a street fight with a member of staff.
Members of the public attempted to break up the altercation which continued for several minutes.
A DfI spokesperson said: “The Department is aware of an incident yesterday involving an attack on a bus lane camera vehicle. The incident is being investigated by the PSNI.”
More of the camera's have been deployed in recent months in preparation for Belfast's rapid transit scheme which comes into effect later this year.
It's understood a female member of staff was in the vehicle when it was attacked, with other staff posted near by.
Another bus lane camera was targeted in the area in recent weeks in a hammer attack.
