Police are warning young people about the dangers of underage drinking and are asking parents and guardians to make their teenagers aware of the consequences of drinking whilst underage and using fake IDs to gain access to licenced premises.
Chief Inspector for the Fermanagh and Omagh District, Clive Beatty says their message is clear "Fake ID or underage drinking equals real repercussions".
He also suggested that as a community, people should support parents in looking out for teenagers:
Chief Inspector Beatty is also reminding young people that using a fake ID is an offence; it not only puts yourself in harms way and the possibility of getting in bother, it puts the older person who's ID you could be using in a difficult position and licensee's in a difficult position:
While the police can only do so much work, they will continue to carry out checks locally and are appealing to the community to get on board and support them in their efforts to keep young people in the Fermanagh and Omagh district safe.
