Therese MacGowan was in her late eighties

The mother of the Pogues' singer Shane McGowan has been killed in a road crash.

Therese MacGowan was in her eighties, and lost her life in County Tipperary at around three yesterday afternoon.

A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out.
