Elsewhere Ards beat Ballymena despite trailing at half-time

Linfield have cut the gap at the top of the Danske Bank Premiership to four points after beating leaders Crusaders 2-1 in a dramatic match on New Year's Eve.

It was the Crues' first league defeat at Seaview since the start of last season.

Aaron Burns and Andy Waterworth scored for the visitors with Jordan Owens pulling one back.


Blues boss David Healy and his captain Jamie Mulgrew were sent off following a mass brawl in the second half after Healy stepped onto the pitch.

Elsewhere, Ards came back from 2-1 down at half-time to beat Ballymena 4-2,

Glentoran drew 2-2 with Dungannon Swifts,

and it finished Coleraine 2-0 Carrick Rangers.

In yesterday's results,

10-man Ballinamallard pulled five points clear of the relegation zone with a 1-0 win against Portadown at Ferney Park.

Adam Lecky hit a 36th minute winner five minutes after Mallards teammate Ross Taheny was sent off for a foul on the edge of the area.

In the other Friday night game, third-placed Cliftonville battled back from 2-0 down to draw two-each away to Glenavon.

Guy Bates and Andy McGrory struck for the Lurgan Blues, but it was all square before the break thanks to goals from Davey McDaid and Stephen Garrett.
