Armagh native Conor McGinn delivered his daughter on his living room floor.
The Labour MP for St Helen's North received instructions from a 999 call handler.
In a Facebook post Mr McGinn wrote both his wife and daughter are doing very well after his 'crash course in midwifery'.
He wrote, "Dad is only slightly traumatised after delivering the baby on the living room floor when she decided to arrive a bit quicker than expected... so quickly in fact that she beat the ambulance to it... Those 'Labour delivers all year round' leaflets will take on a new meaning in St Helens..."
