The Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District, Brian Tierney, is to open a Book of Condolence in honour of 'Captain Tom' -  

Councillor Tierney says 112-thousand pounds of the money Captain Sir Tom raised, went to the Western Trust.

The prime minister says the legacy of Captain Sir Tom Moore will "live on for years to come", after he died in hospital yesterday.

Tributes to the 100-year-old war veteran - turned NHS fundraiser - have been made in their masses from all across the world.

 

Northern Ireland First Minister Arlene Foster tweeted: “Captain Sir Tom Moore has left us.

He leaves behind a living legacy to our NHS heroes and his inspiring example of the power of the human spirit in the face of adversity.”
