A woman was convicted at Enniskillen Magistrates’ Court yesterday for claiming over £12,000 in benefits she was not entitled to.

A spokesperson for the Department for Communities said:

"Michelle Kerr (29) of Cherry Dale, Enniskillen claimed Income Support and Housing Benefit totalling £12,865 while failing to declare employment.

"She was given 100 hours community service. The fraud was uncovered following an investigation by the Department for Communities.

"She is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Department.

"Suspected benefit fraud can be reported to the Department for Communities anonymously."
