A local councillor says a tragedy was averted when two paddle boarders got into difficulty off Ballintoy in County Antrim.
A major rescue operation swung into action and the pair were winched to safety in high winds by a Coastguard helicopter.
Cara McShane says it could have been much worse and she's warning people to be particularly wary of the sea over the winter.
The councillor spoke to Q Radio shortly after the incident on Sunday afternoon:
