Two people have been arrested as part of an animal cruelty investigation in Lurgan.
Graphic details and images emerged online on Monday of a young puppy being tortured and killed.
It's understood the animal was under three months old at the time of the incident.
A PSNI spokesperson said: "Two suspects have been arrested and the investigation is still in its early stages.
"However, there are people who appear to be running their own investigations and accusing people without being in possession of the full facts."
In a post online they continued: "We acknowledge that this is an emotive subject for many, however if you have any information please contact 101."
It's understood the animal was killed after being beaten and its remains were then subject to further abuse.
