North Antrim MLA Phillip McGuigan is calling on the Department of Infrastructure to prioritise the Greenway strategy launched by its Minister Chris Hazzard.
Speaking following a meeting with the Department's permanent secretary Mr McGuigan said:
"Greenway projects have proved hugely beneficial and attractive for local communities. Since the development of some key Greenway projects we've seen an increase in people using them and benefit to local economies surrounding them.
They promote sustainable active travel and aid tourism. I want to see this potential realised right across the North and on a cross-border basis. The implementation of the department's Greenway strategy is key to this.
I encouraged the department to provide capital funding as quickly as possible to assist local councils to devise and develop these projects."
