Detectives investigating the murder of Lyra McKee in Derry - Londonderry have been made aware of the seizure of a firearm in the city.
Police say a number of searches took place in the area yesterday linked to dissident republican activity.
Ms.McKee, who was a journalist by trade, was shot dead by the 'New IRA' whilst reporting on riots in the Creggan estate in April 2019.
The terror group say she was not the intended target.
The 29-year-old reporter had been standing by an armoured police land rover when a gunman opened fire on police, before a bullet struck Lyra in the head.
A number of items are believed to have been recovered by the PSNI during searches yesterday.
Two men were arrested in the North West, alongside a third man who was later detained in Crumlin, Co.Antrim.
